The former professional rugby union and rugby league footballer, Gerwyn Price is a professional Welsh darts player. Gerwyn Price was born in Markham, Wales. He participates in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Price is nicknamed “The Iceman” and he also walks on the music “ Cold as Ice” by Foreigner. He has been successful in establishing himself as one of the world’s top Darts players in a short span of time.
Gerwyn is a former professional rugby player who turned towards darts as a profession in 2014. He began playing darts for his local side Markham Welfare and progressed to enter Qualifying School to join the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) in the same year. Although he was not successful in the first event, he won six matches in the second event to earn a two-year card. He slowly advanced to make a prominent name in the sport.
In 2015 the Welshman for the first time broke into the top 64 on the PDC Order of Merit. In the following year, i.e. 2016, he made a mark in darts by claiming his first-ever PDC Pro Tour title. He broke into the top 32 in the year 2016 and top 16 in 2017 on the PDC Order of Merit. Also, in 2018, Price became the first Welshman ever to win a PDC televised major. He won the Grand Slam of Darts and retained this title in the following year.
Beginning with his career in darts in 2014, Price has been successful in building a reputation in the sport in merely 5-6 years. He holds the current world ranking 3 and is in the top 4 on PDC Order of Merit. The Iceman with his unwavering self-confidence and incredible talent is certainly going to rule the world of darts in the coming years.
