Darts is quickly becoming an extremely popular sport, what do you attribute to the sports Success?

I think the quality of play has got better very quickly in the last few years so it has got more and more exciting to watch. It is a unique sport where fans always can have a great night out, whatever the results.

Similarly, what do you attribute to your personal success in the sport? How have you become so consistent with your performances?

One word. Confidence. It’s not as simple as it sounds because in order to get confidence you need to win matches. But the more matches you win the more confidence you get and the more confidence you get the more matches you win. Of course, you need very good ability too and other aspects but having confidence has been the turning point for myself.

What is the most memorable match or the biggest highlight of your career so far? Why?

I have lots of matches to remember but the one that is the biggest highlight is winning the World Championship. I never can describe that moment. It is like everything you have been working for and dreaming of has come true. Now my job is to experience it again.

What do you see as the biggest strength of your game and how has this helped you?

A bit like I said before. Confidence and self-belief. Whoever I am playing against and whatever the score is, I truly believe that I am better than my opponent and can win any game from any position.

What are you most looking forward to about heading down under (Australia) for the upcoming masters tournaments?

I really want to win in Australia because it is something I haven’t done yet. It is a lovely country and I love visiting but now my job is to win!

So there you have it. We hope you learned something new about the champ. A huge thank you to Michael for answering our questions. We wish him all the best in Australia and for the coming year ahead. Which player would you like us to interview next? Let us know!
