Corkboard
Markers
A pair of Scissors
Glue
Steps to make a dartboard at home
1. Draw a circle on the Cork Board.
Generally, dartboards are a perfect circle, with an average diameter of eighteen inches. Hence, you will need a piece of corkboard circle that is 18-inches in diameter.
Place a pin in the centre of the board. Then, connect the pin with a string, that has a marker attached at the other end. Make sure the length of the string is exactly 9 inches. Now, you should start tracing the circle. The string will help you easily trace a perfect circle with a 9-inch radius, and the pin as its centre.
2. Cut out the circular corkboard.
Once you have traced the circle, you will have to use a nice pair of scissors to cut out the circle. Be careful while cutting out the circle. Make sure to finely trim the edges, so that your board does not look clumsy.
3. Repeat the above steps three times.
You will need at least 3 circular cork board pieces to make a sufficiently thick dartboard. Therefore, repeat the above two steps, at least 3 times, and obtain 3 perfectly circular cork board pieces.
4. Glue the pieces together
Join all three pieces back to back with the help of hot glue. The objective here is to obtain a dartboard with at least 1-inch thickness or even more than that.
5. Draw the bullseye
Right where you have placed the pin, is the centre of the circle. So around that point, draw a circle for the bullseye. The diameter of the bullseye circle should be 1/2 an inch.
6. Draw the rest of the circles.
Starting from the inner circle, make you way outwards drawing circles. First, draw a circle surrounding the bullseye. Be careful and do not draw the 2nd circle too large, making it around one and a quarter inches in diameter. The 3rd circle should be around 7 inches, and the 4th circle should be eight and a half inches. For a double score band, you can create two more outer circles with 12 inches and 13 and 1/2 inches respectively.
Conclusion
It is really easy to make a nice dartboard at home. You can even involve your kids or other family members in the process of making a dartboard. This can be a fun activity in and of its own. You can easily hang this home-made dartboard anywhere around your house, and start playing. All you need are a few darts, and you are good to go.
